The game 4/24

Be there at 9:45, again, ready to play! We're up against Highland.

Positions:
FORWARDS:

Kendra - Left front.
Courtney - Left center.
Bailey - Right center.
Rebecca - Right front. Sub back to midfield.

MIDFIELD:
Molly - Left midfield. Sub up to forward.
Matthew - Middle. Sub back to defense.
Naomi - Right midfield. Sub back to defense.

DEFENSE (FULLBACKS)

Dakota - Right.
Eric - Left middle.
Odie - Right middle.
Raven - Left. Sub up to midfield.
JoLynn - Goalie.

So - Shortly into the first half you guys should all know the following:
1) Who are the defenders most difficult to get by and
2) Who are the forwards who are the most threatening.

Once you figure that out, figure how to move the ball to keep it away from the greatest threats, and keep it moving in your direction!

You are all coming together as a team, and it is a blast to watch you play. Thanks for your effort, for being at practice, and for staying positive.

I'm eager to see you next Tuesday!

Micah.

April 13th

Great practice! Mostly we had offensive players show up, got in a lot of running and thinking.

I'm continually impressed - in just a few practices we've really come together. It's been fun to watch and be a part of. I am loving watching forwards work well - passing, looking, getting into position and helping out. The mid-field has been great, too - the miles you guys are running out there keeps things moving well, AND you aren't bunching up. Defense - what can I say? You are solid as a rock. You are anticipating well, getting to the ball, closing angles, and staying shoulders-on.

Game this week is against Horton, and we play at 10:15. Please be there ready to go at 9:45, same list of stuff to bring.

Play smart. Keep the ball away from their key attacker(s) and around their best defenders. Talk to one another, solve problems, and run, run, run!

Have a good rest-of-the-week.

Micah.

P.S. If you take photos of the game or team, and would like to post them, send them to me and I'll put them up here.

The game...

You all played amazingly!! No kidding. We came away with a loss, but we played like champs.

Forwards - You played in STRIPES! You took shots when you had them, and you gave the goalie some serious work to do.

MidFielders - You ran your legs off. You played most of the field, you played it to the side and to the forwards, and you played beautiful defense.

Defense - You shut down 20+ attacks. No kidding. You shut down THAT MANY. I think you guys have real guts.

IN GENERAL - You listened, you played hard, and I have thought about the game so many times - I'm really glad at how well this went!

We'll meet on Tuesday. 5:30. Come with a snack in your tummy, cleats on, and ready to go.

Thanks for giving your brains and guts for this - it shows!

Micah.

This week....

Wow~

You all played better than I have ever seen you play this evening! Thanks for the crazy good turnout for practice, and for your amazing effort. You all played with your heads, and worked hard. I am impressed.

The game: Starts this Saturday, the 10th, at 10:15. I need you there in your uniform T-shirt, with shin guards, cleats, socks, and a drink of at least 20 ounces. I'll get some snack for half-time.

Also - please get a decent breakfast. Nothing big or greasy, just some good energy that you can burn playing soccer. I recommend some protein (milk, eggs, peanut butter or nuts, yogurt, bacon or sausage) in addition to some carbohydrates (flour, grain, sugars, fruits). If you are into counting calories, I'd like you to have 400-500 calories about 1 hour prior to game time, with 8-10 ounces of water or juice.

I'm eager to see how things go Saturday. Have a great week. Get good sleep Thursday and Friday nights.

Micah.
